Small DC Wedding Venues For An Intimate Celebration

There is something undeniably special about an intimate wedding. With fewer guests, the celebration becomes more intentional, conversations linger a bit longer, and the details feel more personal. Almost magically, the evening unfolds at a pace that allows you to truly savor it. It can also just feel more natural and familiar: we’ve all enjoyed a beautiful night out at dinner or a small cocktail party. Your wedding can feel the same.

In a city known for grand monuments and sweeping views, these small DC wedding venues offer a refined setting for your meaningful celebration.

Below is my list of small DC wedding venues you should absolutely consider.

DAR Constitution Hall

Founded by the Daughters of the American Revolution, DAR Constitution Hall offers a setting that feels deeply rooted in legacy. Just steps from the National Mall, this location provides a quiet sense of grandeur. I especially love the O’Byrne Gallery for small weddings. There, the crown molding and wood finishes create a refined backdrop. French doors open to the scenic Portico, making it seamless to host a ceremony among the stately pillars before transitioning inside for a candlelit dinner. And the sweeping view of the Washington Monument? The epitome of a Washington DC wedding.

Features of DAR Constitution Hall

  • Accommodates up to 200 guests
  • Indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Wedding planner required
  • Required caterer list
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • The Washington Monument is an iconic backdrop for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and rooftop portraits

The Jefferson DC

As DC’s most awarded hotel, including two Michelin Keys, The Jefferson offers modern amenities within a luxurious setting. Known for impeccable service, beautifully appointed decor, and exceptional cuisine, this venue will meet every need for an elevated experience. Your intimate wedding could begin with vows in the Parlor or Gallatin room before hosting a full private dining experience with a buyout of the Greenhouse Restaurant. I’m always drawn to the classic black-and-white checkered marble floor and the historic skylight.

Features of The Jefferson DC

  • Accommodates up to 100 guests
  • Indoor spaces
  • Michelin Keyed
  • Overnight accommodations
  • In-house catering services
  • Wheelchair accessible

St. Regis Hotel DC

For over a century, the St. Regis has been synonymous with iconic luxury, from its renowned butler service to the ornate interiors. Think red velvet furnishings, gilded chandeliers, and intricately detailed ceilings that instantly set an opulent tone. The manicured Astor Terrace is ideal for ceremonies, followed by an intimate reception inside one of the carefully curated rooms. You’ll love the Astor Ballroom with its wood-beamed ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Ritz-Carlton Georgetown

Overlooking the Potomac, the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown offers a chic, cozy sophistication thanks to its thoughtfully designed spaces. It feels refined yet warm, ideal for couples who want an intimate celebration with a polished edge. The Fahrenheit Ballroom features floor-to-ceiling windows and exposed brick, while the Yard provides a terraced garden shaded by a canopy of trees. For something especially personal, the Chimney Stack, set at the base of the hotel’s iconic 130-foot smokestack, is perfect for a private dinner for up to 12 guests.

Hay-Adams Hotel

Named to honor the original owners of the property, Abraham Lincoln’s personal secretary, John Hay, and historian Henry Adams, The Hay-Adams is rich with historical significance and unmatched views of the White House and the Capitol Mall. The interior, though, is an architectural marvel. You’ll find thoughtfully curated rooms with Italian Renaissance-style architecture, incorporating Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian details alongside Tudor and Elizabethan motifs. While the dining and accommodations are exceptional, the crown jewel is the Top of the Hay, the top-floor event space with breathtaking wrap-around balcony views.

DC War Memorial

For ceremonies with just your closest loved ones, the DC War Memorial offers a setting that is meaningful and serene. Ceremonies can take place beneath the marble rotunda or with the landmark as your backdrop while guests sit on the surrounding lawn. There is an elegant simplicity to this space that I truly appreciate. However, since it is located on the National Mall, it’s important to note that this location requires a wedding permit from the National Park Service, and there are strict limitations on timing, decor, and logistics. My recommendation? Keep your ceremony simple here, and plan an extravagant reception (if you desire) to celebrate.

Features of the DC War Memorial

  • Accommodates up to 200 guests
  • Outdoor space
  • No dedicated parking
  • In the National Mall
  • Surrounded by greenery and monuments

Choosing your small DC wedding venue

Whether you’re drawn to a grand historic hotel, a refined gallery space, or a meaningful landmark on the National Mall, each of these venues offers a timeless backdrop for a day centered on your closest relationships. As a DMV wedding photographer, I approach intimate celebrations with the same care and storytelling focus as any grand affair, ensuring every quiet glance, heartfelt toast, and meaningful moment is preserved with intention.
